GIRLS ROCK WEEKEND: The Kids Are Alright Children's Concert feat Planetary Access!

Featuring Planetary Access (Sarah Violette and Myles Robert Bullen)!

Maine Academy of Modern Music is thrilled to launch the second season of "The Kids Are Alright", a family-friendly local music series aimed at encouraging children’s involvement in the musical arts. This series will take place, in partnership with the Sam L. Cohen Children’s Library on the first Saturday of the month (aside from September 9th), September through December at 10:30am in the Portland Public Library’s Rines Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Planetary Access is a musical duo consisting of Sarah Violette and Myles Robert Bullen from Planet Earth. Making auditory art for migratory birds and the plastic filled ocean, P.A creates a rhythmic landscape to take listeners somewhere else. Poems fill the space where the music breathes, and voices act as guidance to new discoveries.

In addition to live performances by some of the area’s top talent, each event will feature a “Get-To-Know-Your-Local-Musician” component that will allow parents and children a chance to ask the performer(s) questions about what it is like to be a musician in Maine. Likewise, MAMM will host an “Instrument Petting Zoo” so that everyone will have a chance to try out some of the instruments that they will have seen used on stage during the performance that day.

Bait Bag w/ Crunchcoat & Cadaverette

Bait Bag was founded in the spring of 2018 by Fiona Robins, Claire Donnelly, and Courtney Naliboff, on the island of North Haven, Maine. Needing catharsis after being weighed down by constant bad news, the three women got together to make loud music with a tone planted firmly in classic rock and roll with a nod to punk and a knowing wink at the riot grrrl movement.
